Emergency Preparedness
Through training and exercises that keep us ready
Education & Recruitment
Through word-of-mouth and strategic social media plans
HVARC has established itself as a cornerstone of amateur radio activity in Central Virginia. Our quarterly focus areas ensure that we continue to grow while maintaining the high standards of service, education, and community engagement that define our organization. Through strategic planning and dedicated volunteer efforts, we've created a vibrant community that welcomes newcomers while providing advanced opportunities for experienced operators.
Membership Growth: A Story of Success
HVARC's membership growth can be attributed to our welcoming atmosphere advertised through word of mouth, as well as the club's increased presence on social media platforms to recruit folks who may not be familiar with HVARC or amateur radio in general.
The Board of Directors observed a direct correlation with a significant increase in membership applications once social media initiatives were launched.

Monthly Meetings: Education and Community

Each meeting this quarter was held at the Atlee Branch Library and featured engaging presentations from club members on technical topics relevant to amateur radio operators of all skill levels.
1

His comprehensive display included various radios and software packages capable of remote operation, the prerequisites for successful implementation, and a live demonstration of remote operations in action.
2
November Meeting

The comprehensive talk covered the fascinating history of APRS, its various applications in emergency communications and everyday amateur radio activities, and practical demonstrations of the system in use.
3
December Meeting
Year-End Gathering – The December meeting served as a "year in review" style wrap-up for the year and included the announcement of HVARC’s officer election results for the 2026 term. All current officers were re-elected, with no major split in the vote. Members used the meeting to catch up and talk through the club’s direction—growth, goals, future activities, events, and upcoming initiatives—closing out the year on a collaborative note.

Capacity Challenge: This quarter’s meetings saw consistently high attendance, and the Board took notice. To better support our growing membership, we’ve reworked the meeting room layout and adjusted the furniture setup to make the space more comfortable and functional for everyone.
